As a pioneer in creative storytelling and play, Hans Andersen Club cultivates children’s communication skills, confidence, and creativity through storytelling resources, professional training, and parent-child courses. We accompany them in their growth with the hope that they will give back to society as they grow older. Therefore, I believe the work of Hans Andersen Club is of great significance. Since its establishment in 1963, it has focused on serving underprivileged children and has always been attentive to the needs of grassroots families.”

Background and Mission
Since its establishment in 1963, Hans Andersen Club has upheld the mission of “Caring for Children, Nurturing Communities.” As a pioneer in creative storytelling and play in Hong Kong, we advocate for the active use of picture books and are dedicated to promoting a reading culture. Currently, Hans Andersen Club has five service centers located in Wong Tai Sin, Lamma Island, and Tai O on Lantau Island.
Three Major Service Principles
Our organization is based on three major service principles: “Innovative Use of Stories, Cultivating Positive Mindsets, and Promoting Intergenerational Integration.” We support the holistic development needs of underprivileged children and families. We provide rich storytelling resources, professional training, and parent-child communication activities to help children successfully integrate into a knowledge-based society. Each year, our services benefit over 100,000 individuals.
Social Impact
Hans Andersen Club has consistently leveraged the agility and sensitivity of a small organization, particularly in recent years, to address multiple social issues faced by Hong Kong, including the COVID-19 pandemic, peer bullying, intergenerational poverty, and an aging population, presenting effective solutions with significant impact.
